What's there at present?
The Portobello Boating Club site has a shed for storing small boats; a steep launching ramp for launching small boats by hand; a ticket office; and a jetty which is only capable of effective use above half tide.
The boat storage shed and launching ramp will remain; as will the historic ticket office.
The existing jetty should be modified to provide all tide access and a longer waterline for short-term (hours) mooring for visiting boats. The ticket office has already moved from its original location once, and may need to move again to accommodate other facilities at the site.
The elements to be added to the site include an area for trailer maneuvering and possible parking; a public launching ramp, which may include or be separate to a Coastguard launching ramp; Coastguard boatshed; toilets and changing shed; and a seating and picnic area.
Other elements may be added to this list during consultation with organisations that have an interest in maintaining or improving harbour access.
