The Project
Each year the Dunedin City Council (DCC) assigns $100,000 for playground upgrades as part of the Council’s Playgrounds Priority Plan. Last year the funds were allocated to play areas on the Otago Peninsula, including Portobello.
Following extensive consultation with the various communities on the Otago Peninsula, a total of $26,946 was spent by the DCC on contract work to the play areas at Portobello primarily at Latham Park.
During the local Portobello consultation, the community decided it wanted to extend the development and a proposal was developed for an unique play structure to supplement the other works carried out through the Council.
The design of this project was carried in consultation with the Portobello Community.
